History
The Administrative Council was formed in 1972-1973 under the leadership of Oakland University President Donald O’Dowd and operated until his departure in 1980. It served as an advisory committee and was composed of the president’s executive staff, the academic deans, the vice provost, the director of Institutional Research, and the deans of Student Services and Student Life. Among other things, the Council led the effort to draft and adopt a new Role and Mission for the university, strategic planning, and management by objectives.
