The collection contains miscellaneous pamphlets, talks, and articles about President Abraham Lincoln that were collected by Edgar DeWitt Jones. His friend and fellow Lincoln enthusiast William Springer most likely added some materials after Jones' passing.

Biographical note

Edgar DeWitt Jones (1876-1956) was a clergyman and author, pastor of the Central Woodward Christian Church in Detroit from 1926 to 1946. He was a prolific writer and wrote a column for the Detroit News. He was also a passionate student of Abraham Lincoln and was very active in several Civil War organizations.

Jones was friends with William Springer, a fellow collector of Lincolniana, who sold his large collection to Oakland University. The bulk of Jones' own collection is held at the Detroit Public Library.
