Oakland University Commencement collection

 Collection
Identifier: OU-HISTORY-COMMENCE

Scope and Contents

The Oakland University Commencement collection was assembled over time from multiple sources. It documents the preparation and implementation of commencement ceremonies since the Charter Class's graduation in 1963. Of particular value are the scripts of invited speakers for a number of early commencement ceremonies and a complete set of program brochures. The Commencement Planning series includes memos and other files created in the planning and assessment of ceremonies. The Ceremonies series contains files for each ceremony, arranged chronologically. The third series groups files originating from Karen Kukuk, a long time assistant to the University President. A complete set of commencement programs makes up the fourth series.
