Biographical note
Phillip Williams, class of '64, was involved with the alumni association from 1965 and chaired the Oakland University Alumni Council (the forerunner of the association) in the 1960s. Mr. Williams received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1976. He and his wife Barbara remained involved with Oakland University, donating money and helping with fundraising, especially for Kresge Library. In the early 1980s, Phil and fellow alum, John Mills, led the fundraising effort to raise more than $1 million to build the alumni wing of Kresge Library, a project that would double the size of the building. The Williams have also set up an endowment to support the Oakland University Archives' mission.
