Scope and Contents

The Paul Tomboulian papers consist of documents related to Tomboulian's involvement in the Oakland University Chronicles Oral History Project, and additional materials compiled by Tomboulian during his time at Oakland University. Also included are materials related to Tomboulian's time on campus during the university's early years, including news clippings, journal articles, department bulletins, and photographs from various university events.

The collection is arranged into three series: Projects & Memorabilia, Photographs, and Artifacts.

The Projects & Memorabilia series consists of materials related to Tomboulian's time on campus during the university's early years, including news clippings, journal articles, department bulletins, correspondence, and promotional media for on-campus events.

The Photographs series consists of non-professional photographs taken during university events, the OU Chronicles project and slides of chemistry courses in 1963 amd 1983.

The Artifacts series consists of a copy of the 1960 MSUO yearbook.

History

Paul Tomboulian was a member of Oakland University's original faculty roster, joining the Department of Chemistry in 1959. He and his wife Alice were involved in the development of the Oakland University Chronicles Oral History Project, a series of recorded interviews which captured the perspectives and personalities of some of OU's founding figures.
