History
The nursing program started at Oakland University when Providence Hospital contacted the university in order to begin a cooperative effort to build a bachelor of science nursing degree at Oakland University. As a result, 300 nursing students started taking nonclinical courses at OU in Fall 1974 and a full B.S. N. was soon created. In July 1975 a new School of Nursing was set up. Geraldene Felton became its first Dean -- the first female Dean of an OU school.
