Identifier: OU-HISTORY-CAMERON

Scope and Contents note

The John Cameron papers on Meadow Brook Hall consist mostly of research files accumulated by Cameron about Meadow Brook Hall during his career at Oakland University. In his notebooks, Cameron compiled all the materials he gathered on Meadow Brook Hall for a 1979 exhibit at the Meadow Brook Art Gallery at Oakland University. They contain photocopies of scholarly articles and of Meadow Brook Hall archival materials, and personal notes, which document the home and its interior decoration as well as other comparable stately homes in the U.S. and England. The personal files contain other miscellaneous materials produced by Cameron for this exhibit as well as other research projects. Of particular interest are the notes provided docents in the 1970s, which offer great details about what was on display in the hall at the time.
