William Connellan collection
Scope and Contents note
The William Connellan collection is an artificially composed collection of materials issued by or to Connellan during his career at Oakland University. The Correspondence series contains letters and memos and is organized chronologically except for some correspondence with specific individuals. The Reports series includes reports drafted by Connellan or sent to him.

Biographical note
William Connellan was hired as assistant to the Oakland University president in 1970, with a responsibility for public relations and information services. Connellan was a 1967 graduate of Oakland University and held a PhD from the University of Michigan. While a student at OU, he served as editor of the Oakland Observer and later worked as a reporter for the Detroit News. During his long career at the university, he served in various administrative capacities including as Assistant Provost (1981-1986), Associate Provost (1986-2000), Acting Vice-President for Academic Affairs (1996-1997), and Associate Dean for Community Programs within the College of Arts and Sciences (2002-2004). He also held faculty rank in the department of Communication.
