Thomas Atkinson papers
Scope and Contents note
The Thomas Atkinson papers contain materials produced during his tenure as director for Administrative Affairs. The collection is organized in 7 series: Annual Reports, Correspondence, AP Association, Performance Reviews, Japanese Exchange Program, News Clippings, and United Ministries in Higher Eduction. The AP Association series includes memos Atkinson issued or received during his tenure as President of the Association in 1977-1979 as well as materials about the reviews of Administrative Professionals employed at OU. The News Clippings series contains articles about Thomas Atkinson during his time as assistant registrar. The United Ministries in Higher Education (UMHE) series contains correspondence and financial reports for the campus ministry sponsored by the UMHE, of which Atkinson was a board member.

The papers of Thomas Atkinson are open for research except for certain records restricted by statute or university policy. The Performance Reviews series is closed for 75 years after creation or death of the subjects.

Biographical note
Thomas H. Atkinson started as assistant registrar in 1962 and succeeded Herbert Stoutenburg as OU's registrar in 1965. He then worked as assistant provost and director for administrative services until his retirement in 1989. Before OU, Atkinson had worked as a business education teacher at Pontiac Central High School. He held a BS in business from Eastern Michigan University and MA in guidance and counseling from the University of Michigan.
