The Jan Marshall papers document her activity within the Meadow Brook Music Festival's Women's Committee in 1991-1997, with the bulk of the materials covering the 1995-1996 period when Oakland University was negotiating transferring management of the festival to the Palace of Auburn Hills. In particular the collection includes correespondence, newsletters, and executive board minutes that highlight the successful fundraising activities of the Women's Committee and the challenges posed by the transfer to the Palace.

Biographical note

Jan Marshall worked at the Assistance League of Southeast Michigan. She joined the Meadow Brook Music Festival's Women's Committee in 1991 and served in various capacitities, including on its Executive Board, until 1996. The Women's Committee consisted of volunteers who raised money for the festival. Upon transfer of the Music Festival to the Palace of Auburn Hills the Women's Committee voted to continue to support other Oakland University cultural programs, including the Meadow Brook Theater, and was renamed Meadow Brook Outreach Committee. Its remaining members later merged with the Meadow Brook Theatre Guild, including Jan Marshall who served as its president in the early 2000s.
