Subject files of Frederick W. OBear, Oakland University Provost from 1970 to 1981. Obear joined the faculty at Michigan State University-Oakland in 1960 and later served as Dean of Freshmen, Vice-Provost, and in 1970 Provost until is departure in 1981.
Friends of Oakland University records
The Friends of Oakland University are an organization of students' parents that was set up in 1963, year of the charter class graduation, to make up for the lack of an alumni base at OU. The Administrative Files contain correspondence and memos to 1971. The Events Files document some of the events organized by the Friends on behalf of OU, such as receptions on commencement days, and Parents' Day during orientation.
Friends of the Library records
Records of the Friends of the Library (1962-1997), an association of library supporters interested in increasing and making better known the resources of Kresge library at Oakland University. The association sponsored fundraising events including lectures, receptions and book sales. Their most spectacular fundraiser was the Glyndebourne Picnic.

The Papers of Provost Gary Russi cover the years 1993-1994. The order in which they came to the archives has been preserved and reflects the way his office organized the provost's files. The memos and correspondence series covers all materials received by the provost's office in 1993-1994. The reading files are organized chronologically and cover all academic affairs under the responsibility of the provost.
George Karas collection
Selected materials of George Karas, Oakland University's first employee. He was hired by Matilda Wilson in 1957 to oversee the development of the university campus she and her husband had just donated to Michigan State University. From 1961 to his retirement in 1987, Karas was in charge of the university's physical plant. Materials include newspaper clippings; Oakland University construction contracts; correspondence; and some photographs.

George W. Norvell collection on Vachel Lindsay
Correspondence, unpublished poem, and clippings documenting the last months of poet Vachel Lindsay (1879-1931) through his relationships with the Norvell family. In October 1930 Lindsay spent some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Norvell in Albany. They became friends and stayed in contact until his death.
